My beautiful friend Bonnie recently married the love of her life, Trevor. I’m so happy for her! When she asked me to capture her Trash the Dress session, I was so excited. Trash the Dress sessions are a newer idea, rather than dry cleaning and boxing the dress as they did even a few years ago when I got married. The boxed dress never again sees the light of day. Many people don’t understand why a bride would “Trash” her dress. In reality, it’s a celebration of the dress and the marriage. It allows the bride to wear her dress all over again and have fun with it without worrying about getting dirty like most do on their wedding day. In fact, that’s the goal of the session…to get messy and have fun. Bring on the water!
Bonnie wanted photos on the beach, so we were on the search for a local lake that would work for their session. We decided on Miquelon Lake, AB. and lucky for us, the beach was completely clear of people as it had just rained. For once I didn’t stress about rain during a session. The more water, the better. Trevor and Bonnie braved the cold waters and had lots of fun with it. They have such a great connection, like they’ve known one another for a lifetime already.
Their marriage is full of fun, laughter, and love. Congratulations you two!
Thank you for asking me to document this amazing moment in your lives. I had so much fun with you both!
Meet Mat, Abby, and Alex.
Next month, they will be welcoming a baby boy into their hearts and home. They are an amazing family.
Mat shares his love of music with Alex. I almost teared up as they sat together playing.
Alex has the BEST personality. This move is called the “Tea Cup”. She had all of us laughing through out the session.
Abby is stunning…
Mat and Abby have an incredible connection. It’s full of laughter, love, and respect. They compliment one another perfectly.
As our session was ending, Abby was told we had “one last photo”. As the sun was setting, Mat got down on one knee and asked the love of his life to marry him. As you can see from her expression, she said yes!
Alex was standing beside me, and she whispered with a giggle “Hey look, Dad is pretending to marry Mom.” When she realized this was a proposal she yelled out with excitement “I get to be the flower girl!”
Congratulations Mat, Abby, and Alex. Thank you so much for asking me to document this amazing time in your lives. Wishing you much love and laughter in the years to come. Amazing!
Meet my talented and beautiful sister Roxanne.
Roxanne was in need of some updated headshots for her business. She is the owner of “Right at Home Redesigns” based out of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Another great love of Roxanne’s is Theatre and she continues to direct productions and instruct drama courses, so we wanted to capture a variety of headshots that would serve dual purpose for both of her passions.
I’m so proud of my sister: an interesting, creative, devoted, and lively woman who is faithful and kind to her core.
She’s had a profound impact on who I am today. At a very early age, she introduced me to the arts, and I fell in love with a world of colour, expression, creativity, and thinking outside the box. Without her influence, I don’t think I would have found the world of photography that encompasses much of the same elements as does design and her world of theatre. Thank you Roxy. I owe you so much.
Not long ago, I wrote a blog post about Roxy on my “Reclaiming Life” blog: http://reclaiminglife.wordpress.com/2011/06/21/heres-to-different/
Check out her website if you want to update and transform your living space. She’s a decorating genius! 🙂
